It is with a grateful heart that I announce the following:
As you know, The Rev. Deacon Kevin S. Mertens has been appointed to The Church of the Redeemer through June 2028 in exercise of his diaconal ministry. We continue to give thanks for the way in which Kevin will help “bring the world to the church,” that we do not neglect to serve the needs, concerns and hopes of the world.
After prayerful discernment, Kevin has announced that he is resigning his staff responsibilities at Christ Church effective August 31, 2026 in order to focus on his diaconal vocation at Redeemer and in the Diocese of Upper SC. Kevin has been part of the Christ Church community for 30 years as parishioner, vestry member, verger, EfM mentor, and staff member.
We remain thankful for Kevin’s appointment here and look with joy toward our ministry together.
