Worship - Preparing and Serving

Within our Services

Acolytes

Acolytes participate in our worship service by carrying a processional cross, lighting candles, holding the Gospel book, carrying torches, and by assisting a deacon or priest during Holy Eucharist.  They also hand the offering plates to ushers, and perform other tasks as directed by the priest or acolyte master.  Read our Customary for Acolytes.

Altar Guild

The Alter Guild serves God by preparing the altar for weekly worship.  See more about Altar Guild.

Flower Guild

The Flower Guild coordinates and prepares flowers for Sunday worship and other church services and events.  See more about Flower Guild.

Lectors

Lectors I read the first lesson which comes from the Old Testament.

Lectors II lead the Psalm, when  it is read rather than sung; read the Epistle; lead the Nicene Creed and Prayers of the People.

Chalice Bearers

Chalice Bearers administer the Cup at Holy Eucharist. They are trained by the Clergy and licensed by the Diocese.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

A lay Eucharistic Minister (LEV) is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements of a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration, but truly they are so much more.  Their function is both sacramental and pastoral.  "You affirm the presence of Christ in a very special way to those who may feel separated from the outside".

While bringing the Body and Blood of Christ to the sick or infirmed, our LEV's also serve as a  beautiful link between the individual and the congreation.

Daughters of the King

Our mission statement is:  "Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world."  Read more about Daughters of the King.
